Oleksandr “Sasha” Torchuk
Youth Head Coach
Kazakhstan National Team • 2024 Paris Olympic Coach • Master of Sports — International Class
Advance Fencing and Fitness Academy is proud to welcome Oleksandr Torchuk —
known to his athletes as Sasha — one of the most accomplished sabre coaches in the
international fencing community. A decorated Master of Sports of International Class
with 14 years of elite competitive experience, Oleksandr represented Ukraine at the
highest levels of the sport — claiming silver medals at the Junior World Championships
three times (2004, 2005, 2006), a bronze at the Junior World Cup in Göppingen, and
gold with the Ukrainian team at the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok.
Since transitioning to coaching, Sasha has built an extraordinary record guiding national
programs across four countries — Turkey, Georgia, and Kazakhstan — and has
coached athletes to podium finishes at the Senior European Championship, Senior
World Championship, Asian Games, and most recently the 2024 Paris Olympic
Games, where his athlete Aigerim Sarybay competed on the world’s biggest stage. His
tenure with Turkey produced a Cadet and Junior World Champion in Acar Ibrahim
Ahmed (2017) and a dominant U23 European team title; his work with Georgia elevated
Sandro Bazadze to a Senior European Championship bronze and a World
Championship top-4 team finish.
What sets Coach Sasha apart is his ability to develop athletes at every level — from
complete beginners picking up a sabre for the first time to Olympians competing on the
world stage — with a systematic approach built on elite lesson quality and international
competition experience that few coaches in the world can match. Whether you are just
starting your fencing journey or chasing a national title, Sasha brings a world-class
standard to every lesson he delivers.
